Whee! Two days till I leave for Ithaca (and hopefully get some good photos). Nothing newsworthy's been happening to me lately, so here are some fun links.

Dogblog is something Ian introduced me to, and I can totally see myself doing something of this nature someday. This guy so clearly loves dogs and is just having a ball taking pictures of them and getting inside their minds (as much as you can with any dog, since most of them always look like they're thinking YAY YAY YAY GOING FOR A WALK YAY YAY PEEING ON TREES YAY FOOD FOOD FOOD YAY).

This news item just sickens me. Having a feral cat hunting season is NOT the way to stop the decrease of songbird populations... only about 5% of a feral cat's diet comes from birds, and cats were around a long time before bird populations began to drop. The problem is habitat destruction and pesticides, not cats. Alley Cat Allies has a lot of great information on feral cats, for anyone who's interested.

Mount St. Helens erupted briefly tonight, yet CNN seems to have no information whatsoever. You'd think they might think it was kind of important, although in geologic terms it seems to have been a pretty minor eruption. (There was a photo here, but I removed it due to formatting issues.)

OK, I lied, the February-March 26 Things gallery is up on my 26 Things page. There's only one shot in there so far, though.

In my photographic life, not much is going on. I didn't end up doing the Humane Society shoot today as scheduled, because the other photographer always says she'll be in on Friday of her week and then never shows up until Tuesday or Wednesday of my week, so I don't have anybody new to shoot. I wish my work schedule allowed me to go in earlier in the week to do my photos, but it doesn't, so we'll have to come up with something that works for both of us.

I've also been doing a small-scale version of 26 Things in the absence of an official one, but I haven't done any more than one photo yet. Ten things this time:

ice
fresh
grow
bud
change
play
dark
more
potential
work

I'll post them on my pbase site when I've done more. I'm hoping to get a lot of good shots in Ithaca next week.

Sorry it's been so long since the last update... it's been a pretty crazy week. I finally graduated on Thursday, February 24, so now I'm officially a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with Distinction and all that good stuff, and I have a pretty diploma to hang on the wall. The ceremony was nice and the speaker was actually interesting, but the best part of the whole day was getting to see my family for a few hours. I think they're insane for coming up to see me the way they did... my uncle John flew in from Atlanta on Wednesday night after work, they all drove from Cleveland to Guelph on Thursday morning to see the ceremony, and afterward turned around and drove all the way back. Uncle John flew back to Atlanta on Friday morning and went back to work that night. Like I said, insane. But it was fantastic to see them.

After the requisite graduation party at the Pennywhistle, I went back to work Friday and I've been working my normal hours ever since (i.e., lots). I also went to my friend Nat's Oscar party Sunday night, but I'm not going to say anything about the Oscars here because Go Fug Yourself and Manolo the Shoeblogger said it way better than I could. Suffice it to say that there was lots of opportunity for red carpet fashion snark.

At the end of next week, I'm heading down to Ithaca for the Admitted Students Day at Cornell and to start organizing my life down there. I'm trying not to stress out too much about moving, since I still have five months to deal with everything, but the fact remains that moving is a pain in the ass and moving internationally is an even bigger pain in the ass. At least I'll have the whole summer off from school, which I haven't had since finishing grade 12!
