So I'm in Ithaca.

I got here last Thursday without incident (the border officials peeked in the back of my truck, but saw nothing untoward), and since then I've been living in a whirlwind of stuff, boxes, paint, bags, stuff, furniture stain, Allen wrenches, stuff, suitcases, and stuff. When did I get so much stuff?

The apartment's painted and the furniture's assembled and stained now, thanks to my lovely mother who stayed here for a week and helped me move in (she's addicted to HGTV, which certainly helps in the decorating department), but most of my possessions are still flung semi-randomly around the apartment. I'm working on making some order out of the chaos, slowly but surely, and improvements have actually been made. The place still kind of looks like a crack den, though.

The cats have settled in very nicely. They weren't terribly fond of the "kitty hotel" where I boarded them for the first few days (anyone who tries to move furniture and paint with cats underfoot is a complete moron, in my opinion), although their opinion had nothing to do with the quality of care. They were extremely well taken care of by a very sweet, animal-loving couple, and if I ever need to board them again, that's where they're going. Once they got to the new apartment, they wandered around, exploring and mewing, and then found their preferred places and settled down for a nap. Since then, they've been leading normal cat lives, or as normal as cat lives ever get, anyway.

I'm also settling in well, I think. I haven't done much beyond work on the house, but I have managed to get out and explore a few times, and I love it here as much as I did when I visited. I miss all the Guelphies, of course, but I'll be very happy living here for the next three years. It's an utterly beautiful town with a lot of other good stuff going for it, and I'm really looking forward to school.

Oh yes, and I've already secured my first client for Four Paws Photography! I'm heading down to Binghamton next week sometime to do a shoot for a guy with his three dogs. I'm looking forward to it.
